Being at the International Rescue Committee

On my first day at the International Rescue Committee, I felt as if I had entered a whole new world. The work and topics that I had to familiarize myself with were entirely foreign. The office culture and setup were unusual compared to a standard office. But the unique collaborative office setting allowed me to get to know my coworkers faster and better.

At the IRC, there is always something happening. One’s day-to-day schedule can easily change depending on a client’s needs. The work I have been tasked with has been engaging and interesting. Despite my work’s unpredictable nature, I have been able to maintain a nice work-life balance. So far, it has been easy to create a schedule around my work that gives me plenty of time to explore life outside of the office. I am looking forward to seeing how my internship progresses.
