My first impression of interning with North Florida Innovations Labs was priceless. The staff, Bob, Ron, and Kaiza, welcomed me with open arms. During my first week interning with North Florida, I’ve had a hands-on experience attending daily meetings and sitting in on extensive discussions, such as preparing for our Ground Breaking Ceremony to welcome the new 40,000 square foot North Florida Innovation Labs that is being built right here in Tallahassee, Florida. My tasks with the Groundbreaking Ceremony are to assist with invitations and graphics and to take notes on how to prepare for the ceremony successfully.

My initial goal for interning with North Florida Innovation Labs was to learn how the North Florida Innovation Labs accelerate the development of technology companies. I have learned that the Labs do this through an array of business support services to produce successful firms that graduate the program financially viable and self-sufficient. I am indeed hands-on this summer at the North Florida Innovation Labs and being mentored to know the day-to-day tasks and how to successfully and efficiently get things running. On my first day, I was able to tour the renovating incubator, which offers offices and access to a shared wet lab space. The park indeed has solid incubators/accelerators focusing on non-dilutive capital sources. Overall, I’m looking forward to the projects I will be helping assist with this week.
