I feel as if I am progressing toward my goals at a successful rate. Tivnu keeps us pretty busy throughout the weeks with educational programming and internships, so I have plenty of opportunity to grow.
I would say the most challenging thing I’ve faced (relating to my goals) is surrounding my internship. I started out at a low-carbon transportation nonprofit, and after a couple months, I found that it really wasn’t for me. I felt really stuck and nervous with the uncertainty of what my passions are. I talked with Tivnu program staff and we made the strides to finding an internship that would better suit my interests. I’ve been interning at a residential facility for people that are HIV+ for about a month now and I couldn’t be happier with it. Each day, I get to go into work and chat with the residents, be creative in the kitchen, and learn from my supervisors.
At this point, I don’t feel like I need to adjust my goals. I have already learned so much about myself and where some of my passions lie. I’ve been better at recognizing my needs and wants, setting personal boundaries, and being more understanding of where people are. I cannot wait for the rest of the semester on Tivnu and to see what it brings.
