This blurry picture of a firework taken at the festival is how I would describe how I currently feel. I have one day left here and I feel as if the past two weeks have went by in a blur. I also want to celebrate the fact that I have enjoyed this portion of my experience and have made friends with amazing people.

Solidarity in Activism
Throughout my summer experience, I have discovered the transformative power of solidarity in uplifting others in activism. Solidarity, at its core, is a collective effort to support and stand alongside individuals or communities who are marginalized, oppressed, or facing social injustices. It is a vital aspect of activism that fosters unity, strength, and resilience inContinue reading “Solidarity in Activism”
A day in my life!
Here is a photo of a strawberry pie Dillon, Austin, and I made this week!
Growing up
Throughout my mentorship with Kateryna,* I have become attuned to a certain structural inequality within her family unit. Kat traveled to the US with her mother and younger sister, Elena, who is 1 year old. Her mother has been tirelessly searching for a job, which often leaves Kat in charge of Emma while her motherContinue reading “Growing up”
Solidarity for All Ages
Solidarity looks like, in my community, the children getting along and bonding over sports. Even though everyone has different things going on in their personal lives, when we have our BBBS events, regardless of differences, everyone comes together and has a good time doing physical activity.

It has been extremely rewarding to finish projects that I started midway through my experience. I am specifically referring to the egg measurements that I haveContinue reading “Saying Goodbye”
Celebrating World Refugee Day as an IRC Youth Mentor
Working as an International Rescue Committee Youth Mentor has been extremely rewarding. This past weekend, I took my mentee’s family to an event celebrating World Refugee Day. I picked up three of the children and their mom, and headed to the event which was located at the Emergency Care Health Organization (ECHO). When we arrived,Continue reading “Celebrating World Refugee Day as an IRC Youth Mentor”
Solidarity in Morocco
In Morocco, the work I’m doing with Connect Institute is to highlight the variety of forms of art within the Moroccan youth. It’s imperative that when working on projects that are more so out of the norm in a country, there is on-going support when needed. I was able to work alongside my peers andContinue reading “Solidarity in Morocco”
