3 Things I Want To Do During My Summer Experience…

The first month of the summer has come to an end. I spent most of my summer in South Florida spending time with my family and friends, and recharging my energy for my upcoming trip to Valencia, Spain. I have also been playing a lot of Tomodachi Life. This June, I will be conducting research for my Global Scholars project titled Navigating Borders and Belonging: A Comparative Study of International Student Experiences in the United States and Spain. I have spent this month creating a survey, writing interview questions, and submitting my IRB proposal. My next step is getting in contact with the international students in Universitat de Valencia and FSU.

🌟If you self-identify as an international student, or a higher education student living in the United States without citizenship or permanent residency of your host country, please feel free to fill out this survey about your experiences as a student in the USA/Spain. https://fsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3L5sKV9KvEDRtMa

This summer, I want to be part of my first ever college publication, Nomadic Noles, recording FSU students’ experiences in the Editing, Writing and Media program in Valencia. I want to take a lot of pictures and edit students’ articles as part of my internship. I look forward to adding this work to my E-Portfolio. Another goal of mine this summer is to prepare for my law school applications. I plan to apply for law school this September. I want to polish my personal statement and be ready for applications to open this Fall. I am excited about this process and facing post-grad life head-on.

As another one of my main personal goals, I want to catch up on my Fable reading goals. I have 3 more books to catch up on so I can be on track. Another shameless plug: https://fable.co/fabler/charlize-348232788471?referralID=619g03RHdK !!

2 Skills I Will Work On

Two skills I will work on this summer during my project are my writing and my mindfulness. I want to work on my creative writing more consistently. I am very excited to take a creative fiction class next Fall. I hope inspiration strikes this summer. The editing internship is will help me hone these skills, and being surrounded by other creative people will inspire me.

Mindfulness is also a skill I have been meaning to develop for a while because it will most likely help me with my anxiety. I also want to live more in the present and enjoy every day to its fullest. I know it’s cliché, but it is genuinely a level of joy and calm I want to reach.

🎵 1 Song That Encapsulates How I’m Feeling Going Into My Experience

First, I am very excited for the World Cup. Second, the song contains a series of affirmations such as,

“Where there’s a will, there’s a way

You are the owner of that fire

No onе can take it away,”

and I need that energy and confidence in my life at this moment.

P.S. An extra song that encapsulates how I’m feeling going into this experience: https://open.spotify.com/track/5tmEfi2Es0G7B3pVRESEnw?si=2gwn5GFYSXCLKK-G9JgIbg
