My Life’s Impact

My Life’s Impact

Myself:

  • I decide to pick my battles wisely; only I will have the consequence of sitting with my own actions and regrets, so I choose to take the high road in many situations.
  • I create my own deadlines, limits, and boundaries.
  • I seek peace always, and practice meditating/
  • water, Water, WATER!! It has so many tangible and intangible benefits.
  • I do the risky “thing” that I feel will give me the biggest positive payout.

My Inner Circle:

  • I ask my friends and family how I can support them before a crisis strikes, with the hope that when it does strike, I can positively change or help the situation.
  • I frequently communicate with my friends and family.
  • My love language is acts of service, so I show up for my friends and family, help them complete tasks, and take initiative.
  • I listen to understand when I communicate with my partner, I don’t “hear him to give a response”.

My Community:

  • I genuinely care about my neighbors, their pets, and their kids!
  • I volunteer often in Tallahassee’s art community. I want my contributions to make a difference. I participate in clothes swaps, hot food shares, and my friends’ art exhibitions.
  • I support female podcasters, especially in areas of interest such as true crime and sustainability practices.
  • I love to make people smile. I have a habit of remembering someone’s name better if I can remember how happy they look when they smile.

Our World:

  • I am always willing to listen and learn from others’ experiences. I love to ask deep questions to better understand the lives and circumstances of the people I meet.
  • I approach life as a student who is eager to learn.
  • I understand how much potential I have that can make a huge impact on another person’s life.
  • I enjoy new cultural experiences and how they shape the world we live in.
  • I pray for our world to be a better place every day.

Each category’s impact on the others:

  • The moral compass I follow that directs me on how to treat myself is reflected in how I treat others. My self-awareness, boundaries, and habits are three concepts I cannot bargain about and that help shape my foundation. They control the way I interact with my friends and family; a strong support system, genuine relationships, and honest conversations are what I offer them and expect in return. My bonds and expectations help me influence a healthy cycle within the communities I am a part of. The positivity I radiate can be recycled back to me.

This summer’s impact expansion:

I’ve started my journey to expanding these impacts by first understanding that I am going to be entering a space with a history and identity different from my own even though hip-hop music is universal. To be in Canada studying Canadian hip-hop, I have to understand the differences and be open to unlearning and adapting to a new yet familiar concept. I am striving to grow both personally and intellectually through this experience through moral groundings and continuous learning. I do believe that my contributions of kindness and empathy have created a lasting impact. Canada is one of the best places to expand on this, as the country is well known for being very empathetic.
