Here Are My Personal Spheres Of Impact!

By: Sofia Tascon

Myself

  • Read a good book every once in a while
  • Work hard for my goals but know when to take breaks
  • Workout
  • Journal and reflect on experiences
  • Take courses that challenge my thinking and expand my knowledge of the world

My Inner Circle

  • Converse with my friends about their experiences
  • Support my support system through offering a shoulder
  • Share a meal with family
  • Random drives

My Community

  • Volunteer (immigration clinic in my hometown, for example)
  • Reach out to mentors on/off campus for professional development
  • Involve myself in organizations and leadership
  • Call my extended family from across the globe

The World

  • Travel the world and try to learn more about places/cultures (going to historical museums, for example)
  • Core values: trust, communication, loyalty, kindness
  • Learn more about issues that are significant to me (immigration, for example)

These habits are important to me, as even the smallest ones like working out can help me de-stress and be a better person to the people I love around me. If I take the time to reflect on my days and experiences, I can learn new lessons and impart that onto the younger people around me (like my sister, for example). As I support my own support system like my immediate family and friends at FSU, we can better develop our friendship and bring out the best in each other. Like my friend Liz and I helped support each other by working out together for the first time (pictured). As my inner circle is strengthened, so are my capabilities to be a better person to my community and the world. This summer I really hope to expand my engagement with the world and my respect to other cultures/cities in Spain. As I will be studying abroad I will be sure to do so from a respectful place with the intent to go to more museums and interact with locals to expand my knowledge the furthest. I want to take what I have learned for the better after this summer.

  1. Hi Sofia, I love that even when your life and routine might be changing you still find time for the little things that are important to you like working out. It’s so good to see that you show up for yourself in that way so that you are healthy and happy enough to show up for others.
