This weekend before traveling to Belize my family accompanied me to Guatemala. The countries are really close, so to help me feel comfortable in my travels they went with me along the way. I am now a few days into my experience, and I love it here so far. I will be interning at 3 clinics and the prison in Belize. While I am here, I will be living at a homestay and the cultural environment here is very close-knit much like my family. I feel like I definitely feel like I joined a different community here however, I come from a diverse background, so this does not feel new to me. This experience has helped reinforce my concept of community because I was able to see how other tightknit communities grow and work.
