This news story from UNESCO resonated deeply with me because it discussed how much culture we are losing due to technological advancements. Mongolia’s solution to this problem was to outline a project that would advocate for culture by studying how technological advancements have decreased cultural facilitators’ ability to perpetuate culture through their work and other related topics. After examining these topics Mongolia hopes to protect culture through the knowledge it gains in research.
More people should talk about how the new age of technology has contributed to cultural dissolution because if they don’t soon our world will become so globalized by technology that there will be few untouched cultural pockets in our world.
The premise the article outlines is that artisans and other people who present culture through their creations can’t keep up with how technology has influenced the economy and working environment. This outpacing has led to many artisans giving up or altering their crafts to maintain a living.

I think mainstream media doesn’t cover stories like this because the general population feels that what is happening is inevitable. Many people feel that it is simply “how the world works” when professions go dry because they are left in the past. I believe these thoughts stem from a mindset that isn’t rooted in cultural appreciation but instead rooted in thoughtless globalization.
Regarding my Capstone, I believe my submission to be a valid description and showcase of my experience in the TEFL program and at CIES. I believe it will look different in poster format, but I’m excited to view the final product.
