The Camp Magic Map

Hi everyone!

I had to stop working at camp, due to my pneumonia which put a road block on my summer experience. I reflect upon my time at camp with memories I will cherish forever, and new relationships with friends I hope to keep for a very long time!

The first time I set foot onto camp, it felt like a world of its own; it was the epitome of a child’s dream place. I have never been to a place like High Meadows, with its unique charm and individual focus on Native American culture. When you first enter camp, it looks like something straight out of a movie. It has bright signs, a train-car that is used as a library, a gigantic teepee that the school children decorated, gardens, and animals that graze the property.

I have never been anywhere quite like High Meadows, so you could imagine my surprise when I first stepped onto campus to interview. All I could think the entire time was “wow, I would have absolutely loved this if I was a child.” It is so different to the way life looks outside of camp, more monotone and less nature-y. I don’t think I have ever been outside more since I was a kid than when I worked at camp. The schools and college I go to are beautiful, but so different from the High Meadows campus.

Since High Meadows was a phone free campus, I do not have too many pictures to map it out for you, but just think of the most wonderful memory you have as a child, and being there feels like that.

See you soon!

Nadia ❤
