My New Profound Love: Trekking around Cusco!🏔️

Ever since arriving at Cusco, I have been all over the place!

After my volunteers hours at Casa Mantay, I would walk around the Plaza de Armas of Cusco to discover something new to do! I found cat cafe’s, smoothies, empanadas, and even a beautiful church!

These quickly became the places I visited often since in their own way they felt like home. The cat cafe reminded me of my cat back home, the smoothies reminded of the ones I would have in my barrio (community) in Lima, and the empanadas were just so good that I had to have one everyday.

Yet, as time went by, and as I continued to see how big Cusco is I decided that to start going on tours. I picked to go to the Rainbow Mountain and the 7 Lagoons.

These experiences were something I never tried, especially in an altitude that is much higher than the city of Cusco. However, everything was so worth it!

For the Rainbow Mountain, I did hike of 2hours, full incline, with an altitude of 17,000ft. I completely died and thought many times I wasn’t going to make it but after much persistence I did! And, the view was worth every step, breath, and coca leave!

For the 7 Lagoons, the hike was of 5hours, thankfully no hills, but with an altitude of 16,000ft and so much breeze. The mountains were all covered in snow and their lagoons had crystal clear waters with almost no sea life from how cold it was.

These two experiences were amazing! It took me out of the routine I had built in Cusco and showed me something different. I quickly fell in love with trekking and the beautiful nature of Cusco. It is something unreal! 🏔️✨
