Wrapping Up, Final Thoughts, and Impacts on the Future

Going into Florida State University, I knew that public health, my major, was a broad field, and with that comes many opportunities to explore, whether that be government, medicine, research, etc. I have always had a passion for global public health and international healthcare. Through the Global Scholars Program, I have felt like I have been pushed towards exploring more about the diversity that public health has to offer.

Upon initially beginning my internship with Uganda Development and Health Associates, I knew that this experience would allow me to experience what a career working for a nonprofit would be like, a potential career idea I had been considering for a while, and I was able further to understand the intricacies of this type of work. I was able to see first-hand how truly influential this internship was and realized how much I had learned throughout this experience, not only about what it would be like to go into this line of work but also how much I have learned about global health and health needs within certain communities. Health disparities are present everywhere, and through this experience, I have realized that I want to aid such issues and shed light upon inequities within global healthcare.
