The Experience

My experience has been so amazing this summer. Not only have I learned so much, I have had so much fun. I really thought the longer hours I took on would make the job become dreadful after a month or so of being there, however, I was excited to go to work almost every single day.

The job itself was extremely unpredictable, and I never knew what was going to happen. I also became extremely comfortable with my duties and I think this helped with my confidence and happiness in the workplace. This was heightened by the great friendships I made with the other interns and even office employees.

I feel extremely close to everyone and am so sad its coming to an end! I will definitely be staying in touch. I think I have become even more nuanced at how I look at the world because, as an intern for the State Attorney’s office, I was looking at complicated and real situations that almost always had two or more sides.

One of the harder things I had to learn is that you can’t help everyone who needs it. Some people denied our help, while others wanted it but there was not enough evidence or an ability to do so. This taught me the importance of listening and doing what can be done, even if it’s not the best possible scenario.

My capstone is going well. I was not able to do the exact methodology I hoped to because I haven’t been able to get in contact with the only person who has some of the information I need! But, I am working on a new plan and have it basically figured out!
