My first couple of days in Cordoba have been a great experience! I am really getting to enjoy the city. Everyone has been extremely accommodating and enthusiastic to help me in my position, making my transition easier. The warm welcome makes it easier for me to suggest ideas and speak in Spanish, even if I make mistakes. Surrounding myself in the community has helped me pick up the language and understand the culture better.
My human rights internship is divided into three parts, in different locations. The first part includes researching human rights in technology, collecting my findings, and presenting it in a digestible way to the local school. I usually do my work at home or in the Projects Abroad office. Second, I go to the homeless dining hall, each night, to help serve food. It has been great getting to know the environment and helping with the daily routine. Here, there are so many great systems in place to assist people in homeless situations. Finally, I am working Campo La Ribiera to help keep the memory of what happened during the dictatorship alive.
Overall, my first day in Cordoba has been fantastic. P.S. Go Argentina!
