Hello everyone! I started my fifth week of camp today, meaning that I am in the second week of the second session of camp.
I believe that in this community, solidarity is shown in a very unique way. Despite the fact that my coworkers and I all work at the same place and are from nearly the same areas in Georgia, we are all very different individuals with very diverse backgrounds. Solidarity for us is very unique in the fact that we all come together to make a great experience for the kids, despite our ages, races, genders, and more factors. Our care for the kids far surpasses any other boundary that may stand to divide us, which makes us stronger as a camp community.
The issues this becomes most relevant in is in matters that include the kids, their wellbeing, and in supporting one another to aid the children. There are a lot of emotions, behaviors, and conversations that occur at camp to ensure we can have a safe, fun environment for everyone, which often means us coming together to support each other with matters concerning the kids.
The image I chose best represents solidarity for me, because like how the other counselors and I come together for the kids, we have a garden at work where the children and counselors come together to make a flourishing environment for plants and animals.
Thanks for reading! With love,
