Blog 3: Filling in the Gaps

So far I have not run into as many structural inequalities as differences. My community is very small and tight-knit, lessening the presence of structural inequalities. However, I will say that more than the pandemic, access to the internet seems to have created the most differences. The question of how much internet we are consuming is popular amongst everyone in the world right now, and I tend to ask this question in regard to my community. Within my internship, we are teaching kids, and since we are focusing on STEM, a lot of internet access is used, whereas in other communities this internet use is noticeably less. I want to do my capstone based on the differences that I observe between my two experiences. During my meeting with Mr. Warren, we discussed some ideas, however, I have yet to solidify a specific idea as of right now. For the time being, I am working on noticing trends that appear in both environments and the ways that I can compare and contrast them. Right now I am thinking about doing a project on either, the different ways that authority figures present themselves in my two experiences or the different ways that the subjects in my experiences learn. I think that the second idea is what I’m leaning toward because it can be more experimental and I can include input from others.
