Solidarity in Serrinha

Solidarity in my community shines through during tough times. During COVID-19, we came together to prepare and distribute “cestas básicas” (basic food baskets) to help lower-income families. This ensured everyone had access to essential items despite the pandemic’s challenges.

We also face issues like wildfires, and because it’s hard for fire trucks to reach our area, we work together to prevent and control fires. We organize fire watch groups and create defensible spaces around our homes.

Communication is key to our solidarity. We have a community group chat to quickly share information about dangers, accidents, and lost dogs. This keeps everyone informed and ready to help each other.

Whether dealing with health crises, natural disasters, or everyday emergencies, our community’s strong bonds and mutual care always shine through.
