I arrived in Brazil this week and got to see some of my family that lives here, which has been an amazing experience! We started off my trip to Brazil by celebrating a Festa Junina (which is a June Festival) that celebrates caipira culture and honors Saint John. Its a festival full of traditional Brazilian foods including pamonha, canjica, vinho quente, and more!
It’s super interesting to see how these cultural festivals differ from the ones I experienced in Italy and I am loving seeing the comparison. I even visited an exhibition in an Italian neighborhood in São Paulo which looked at Italian immigration to the city and I have a few interviews and experiences lined up over the next month which I am very excited about!
