First Week at Treganoon!

Hey everyone! Last Wednesday, I arrived at the Treganoon Small Holding, a miniature farm in Lanlivery, Cornwall, where I volunteer performing tasks and chores in exchange for residency and food! So far, my transition into this temporary lifestyle has been very smooth. The Marsh family, who I’m staying with, is extremely welcoming, and I’ve quickly befriended the two teen children, Rose and Zav. Physically, however, I’m finding that I may not be as muscular as I may have thought… from wheelbarrowing to building sheds, I’ve definitely had to push through certain farming tasks.

When it comes to the Lanlivery community, I’ve already learned a LOT about conservation strategies and local organizations, as well as their impact. In fact, I’ve been realizing recently just how great of an environmental impact even one person can make, simply due to seeing the efforts of the Marsh family and those in their community. Therefore, I’m starting to shift gears a little bit, and I really want to learn more about past efforts, strategies, and hopes that the Lanlivery community has for protecting Cornwall from climate change. This does mean, unfortunately, I won’t get to look into fossil preservation as much as I originally hoped; on the plus, however, in the next coming weeks I’ll get to be a little more hands-on with local environmental organizations! I’m very excited to see what Lanlivery has in store, as so far, it’s already been a beautiful and perspective-altering experience.

  1. It sounds like you’re having an incredible experience at Treganoon Small Holding! Volunteering on a farm must be such a rewarding way to learn about conservation and community impact firsthand. It’s inspiring to hear how the efforts of the Marsh family and the Lanlivery community are making a real difference. If you’re interested in exploring more about environmental strategies and local initiatives, I recommend checking out this resource: London Fit Out. Best of luck with your continued journey and all the hands-on work ahead!
