Hello everyone! My name is Barbora Melichova. I will be a junior starting in the fall, working towards a dual degree in Management Information Systems and Finance. (So very business heavy in my studies). This summer I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the FSU Orientation Program this and learn more (to also share with you all) about the ways this program facilitates and guides students in connecting with the new communities around them as they transition into college.
I expect to be able to gather information on the general process in ways like analyzing methods we already implement in the program that are effective in their goals of fostering these connections. I also hope to gain new insight on more ways to improve and hone these experiences to directly impact these students in various ways. The few things that I am still unsure of moving towards the start of my experience revolve around the exact methods I want to use to get this information during this process. I am unable to decide if I want to do anonymous surveys of the student and/or family participants experiencing Orientation or focus on a different aspect with the perspectives of fellow Orientation Leaders going through the process of trying to share these resources and potential community connections.
