As I say farewell to my internship experience working as a Fellow for Student PIRGs, I am reminded of how much I have learned and grown from the beginning of the summer. I’ve learned a lot about student activism, being a leader, and how to balance remote work and my health. Overall, my experience was very successful and I had a lot of fun doing it. With a remote internship, there were numerous pros and cons but I am happy to say that the convenience and the versatility of my experience made the internship a lot better.
Through participating in student activism and leading a team of my own, I was able to get real world experience with leading a team in student activism and I was able to develop a new found appreciation for activism. This new appreciation also served as a moment of reflection for me as I looked back to the historical significance of student activism on the development of the US which is what I am diving into for my capstone project.
My capstone project is going well. I am making sure I develop the project thoroughly. I have had some backtracks from different travel plans and moving back home but I am still making good progress. The fact that I have never done a capstone project before is definitely making this process 10x harder just because I am kind of going into this blind.
