Map of Experience: Little Rock REU

A map of the spaces I inhibit on a weekly basis would predominantly encompass the library at the University of Arkansas, Little Rock. Our 9-5 workshops and lectures are held here, and the only variance from this location is going to and from the dorms to have lunch. In addition to this, on weekdays, I often shop at the local Kroger (which I am absolutely heartbroken that Florida doesn’t have). Often after class, I either go back to study, or I walk around the trails and creeks on campus. The spheres have changed drastically from before I started my experience, as my day to day basis in Tallahassee included attending class, going to the dorm, and having more variety on a day to day basis of what my day looked like besides attendance of class and studying. Besides this, on weekends, my roommates and I often go out to explore the community, and try different cafes and restaurants. I visited Hot Springs during our Fourth of July break, and it was absolutely gorgeous! Exploring the local scenery and nature has helped me manage burnout and always makes the day a bit brighter.

Hey! I'm Sam, and I'm a rising senior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Law & Philosophy. I am in Global Scholars, and will be posting throughout this summer as a means of documenting my experience at an NSF-funded REU at Little Rock, Arkansas, where I will be researching Muslim hate crimes within the South. In addition to this, I am currently in the second phase of Honors in the Major, where I am conducting a study on TikTok usage and eating disorders.
