Kimasia Ayers: Hitting My Stride

This summer has been one of the most pivotal points in my life. I feel myself transforming within a cocoon of ideas and execution, shaping my personal growth as both; a person and an entrepreneur. Domi Station has been a crucial stepping stone on this journey and has contributed significantly to my business rebranding.

One particular event that stands out is the family reunion I attended during the first week of July. My mom made a life-altering discovery and found her biological father. My mother is an immigrant who was adopted from Korea when she was only five years old. Until this recent discovery, my mother and siblings were the only blood-related family I had. This unexpected discovery not only transformed my entire family but had such a profound impact on me, alleviating feelings that I was not aware I had until our union. My Grandfather welcomed the family with open arms and it was such a joyous trip that allowed me to do a level of soul-searching that would have me returning to Domi with a new Aura!

As for my last blog post, I am still video editing. I was granted a higher quantity of videos taking on about 23 more videos with around 100+ hours of video editing. It was even to my delight knowing that the edited videos are to then go through another phase of editing that shortens the edited 45-minute videos to a much more digestible length of about 15-20 minutes. I moved my setup to another desk location within the community coworking space so I can double my productivity levels. I now have an additional monitor that I connect to my computer so I can simultaneously edit videos and work on personal projects from Photoshop to market analysis research.

I also decided to dive into another department within Domi Station and take on some tasks focused on marketing. I recently developed a social media marketing strategy for Domi that would help Domi’s social media content be more algorithm friendly for their targeted social media platforms: Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. I researched the unique algorithms for each of the platforms and formulated a plan that utilizes Domi’s strengths and reinforces any weaknesses that would impact our community engagement.

I am quite surprised that I do not feel the weight of my responsibilities, I feel like I am floating. I don’t feel the pressure of deadlines or inadequacy preventing me from prospering. I’m in my element and Domi’s environment is encouraging me to utilize my unique skillset that I would be sleeping on! As a student who has consistently experienced stress-related college burnout since starting at Florida State University, this is the most free I have felt in a very long time, and that’s with me taking summer classes! I’m about halfway through my internship and I have such an array of unique memories thanks to Domi, like being a pitch judge for the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce’s Camp ‘Treppie summer program. Domi station truly does care about its members and Domi shows it in unique ways… like bringing therapy animals around for a Domi pet distress sesh!
