As I embarked on my first project at Domi Station, I found myself immersed in an ecosystem of endless possibilities and a lively community. The task at hand was no small feat – editing the master classes for Domi’s 2023 July Cohort, the very tools that shape the aspiring entrepreneurs and nonprofits in our community. I’ll admit it I was initially nervous about such a critical responsibility. I found myself overthinking every minute detail, however, I felt the tranquility of Domi wash over me, and my confidence soared to new heights. Domi’s warm and welcoming environment allows my passion for innovative entrepreneurship to truly flourish. Every morning, I get situated at a desk within the bustling community office, nestling into my wheely chair and setting up my laptop. I usually have an assortment of beverages ranging between kombucha, water, and Celsius. With my blend of notebooks, planners, and Bluetooth mouse, I delve deep into the realm of video editing.

Soon as I have my peony pink headphones on, the world around me fades into the background as I dive into my element. Domi envelopes me in an ambiance of the vibiest music that has ever grazed my ears, from Whitney Houston to Crank That (Soulja Boy); Domi has encapsulated the importance of having an engaging and entertaining atmosphere. Hours pass as I watch the videos come to life, slowly gaining momentum as time walks by. This experience alone has embellished my creative portfolio with meaningful video post production skills and experiences.

As I edit the videos, I’m exposed to a new realm of entrepreneurship. I can feel my brain chemicals shifting as I am exposed to an assortment of gems ranging from market research analysis to the basic blocks of branding. Within this internship, I am blessed with the knowledge that I have completely dismantled my previous viewpoints on entrepreneurship. Within these videos, I have expanded my LinkedIn network and have connected with innovative entrepreneurs who are living within their passions and flourishing within their craft, one of which being Grant Posner. Hours after editing Grant’s video on market research, I found myself sitting on Zoom with Grant getting a personal consultation. I was “granted” (see what I did there) an hour of priceless information that elevated me past obstacles I unknowingly placed upon myself.

Every day at Domi feels like a step in the right direction. I feel light, I feel fun, I feel free. I feel truly accepted for who I am, and Domi provides an empowering environment that encourages me to take up space. The glass box that I once encapsulated myself in has been broken, and I am tremendously grateful for this internship!
