Its been about 5-6 months since I graduated and honestly the time has flown by. If I had to compare myself from before and after, I wouldn’t say much has changed. I have learned, I have grown, and I have more experience than before. With that being said, I am still the same person I was and I am very happy about that. Going into my gap year, a personal goal was to not lose myself in the work I had to do. I am glad that in these 6 months I have been able to grow in a professional way while still keeping “me” the same. On another note, when I graduated, I felt free from the burden of school. I still feel this freedom now and I am grateful for the year I have.
My worldview has definitely grown, but only in a literal way. I now know a lot more about a LOT of different communities. This is from the work and community service I have been doing. However, my view of the world philosophically has not changed a bit. From a young age I have seen the world in my own way and I don’t intend to change that. That is what I was getting at about keeping “me” the same. With my internship, I am involved with a lot of pain management doctors as well as Veterinarians. Is has been eye opening to see all of the care that goes into bettering the lives of people and animals. I have more appreciation for healthcare than I did when I graduated.
