Never ending Story

By Maria Clara Oliveira

I think the quote “the project is never finished” relates a lot to all types of community engagement and social impact work. As much as one can try their best to help and to improve the lives of those who need in their community of interest and so on, for at least most of these communities, the problem is ongoing and is never coming close to being solved. For my community at least, homeless people have been around since the beginning of human stages and as unfortunate as it is, it doesn’t seem like the government would try their best to benefit this issue because the sad reality is that some have to suffer in order for others to be stable. I don’t think that my job is done with my community, because the issues in my community haven’t been resolved or haven’t even came close to being resolved, this ongoing problems needs continues aid to make sure that it is being taken care of. As much as doing little things can greatly impact a community, the community would be more impact if these little actions made were done on a long-term basis. I’m proud of the environment that I have created, I was able to help out my community of interest while being able to have fun with them and create meaningful conversations. By doing those things it can show to another person that they matter which can positively impact someones live. I would love and I plan to keep doing this for as long as I can. I wish I could’ve created a facility that offers mental health treatment and provides a more long-term care as most of the people in Coalition wished to have. I think the opportunities that await for me is taking on new roles that allows me to be able to cause an impact into someone’s life. Now that I understand how everything we do can have an impact in someone’s life I will try my best to provide continuous aid for those who are in need.
