My Summer Goals

This summer I’ll be staying in Cusco, Peru for a clinical internship. During that experience, I want to build a circle of friends I can explore the city with and be able to visit all the exciting points of interests that there is to see. That’ll help me meet new people and keep me from going crazy for all that time. I also want to stay active so I’ll hopefully find a good gym or recreational center I can go to in order to exercise or play sports with other people. The third thing I’d like to try this summer is to take some time outside of the internship and travel to Machu Pichu. Preferably I’d like to hike around the mountain area, but seeing the view from the top would be satisfying enough for me.

Being abroad means that I’ll be far from any of my friends which clears up a lot of the distractions that keeps me from being productive at home. During my experience I really want to consistently practice my music skills which I can do on my computer with digital audio software and also by studying content I can find online. I think these are important in order to keep my mind active and in a creative state of mind. I also want to have a consistent study habit where I spend a portion of the day either reading or keeping up with important subjects to me like computer science. I have a few books I’ve started reading in Spanish to help prepare me for the language switch. These skills are overall productive habits and I just want to help develop them in my routine so that I can stay consistent and responsible throughout my life.

A quote that kind of encapsulates how I’m feeling is “Si quires hacer reir a dios, cuentale tus planes” or “if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans.” It’s pretty ominous but I just watched this movie Amores Perros yesterday and the quote was so cool I wanted to use it somewhere.
