- How does each sphere of impact influence the next? How does “showing up” for yourself help you “show up” for others?
Looking at the example given inside the prompt, I think a lot of it has to do with personal values. Based on my experiences and worldviews, I see it vastly different from those who may not have gone through what I have. From my personal health issues to Chinese cultural games and language, for me, every sphere of impact directly coincides with one another. “Showing up” for myself initially brings me to thinking about self-care. I always tells others, “you yourself is the number one priority in your life.” And I still stand by it. “Showing up” though doesn’t have to necessarily be just self-care; ya know, popping up early before interviews and meetings, arriving early to events. It also includes the smaller pieces of showering daily, brushing your teeth before bed. “Showing up” is those small fragments, those tiny snowflakes that build up to habits. 21 days to make or break a habit as they say.
And it plays a large role in how I approach “showing up” for others. Whether it’s telling others I’m coming a little late with my camera in tow to reading messages and liking them to be seen before replying a paragraph late at night. To me, especially with all the latest involvements and work I’ve delved into just sophomore year only, “showing up” may be both in the small gestures you do but also those spontaneous big ones that occur when life throws challenges at you.
2. After mapping your impact, reflect on how you can expand it this summer. What attitudes, routines, or habits would you like to develop through your summer experience?
Something I definitely want to establish throughout summer to follow into fall is improving upon the systems I have in place. I think of myself as someone who relies on what I call choice architecture. Every choice builds up to a result and that’s one piece of the puzzle that makes up my daily life as I go about my day and work. Especially as I continue to work on projects and program from Spring 2025 to Fall 2025, I want to spend summer for not only maximizing my study abroad opportunity at London and Washington DC, but also take advantage of my free time before and after the study abroad working out how Fall 2025 will be like. In light of recent opportunities popping up in my email, I’m so glad that I have time throughout summer to distress, recharge, and reroute a lot of what I am doing and will be doing.
The picture above of the Eisenhower matrix is arguably one of my most useful tools I implement in daily life and also something new actually I put in just for Spring 2025. It dramatically upscaled what I could do; freeing far more time than I thought could’ve. That’s just an example of what I hope to do during May up until June 19th and August 1st to the start of Fall 2025 semester. Even during that time, I’m hoping to fill up my schedule with other tasks. Right now, I’m currently doing a little bit of preparation for study abroad!
