Hello 🙂
My name is Jasmeen. I am a rising third-year student at FSU from Largo, Florida. I am pursuing two degrees in Political Science and Interdisciplinary Social Sciences because I want to pursue a legal career that helps prepare communities for unexpected circumstances and respond to them with emergency management systems and resources from local governments.
This summer, I have the pleasure of working as a Responsible Tourism intern at a non-profit civil association in Oaxaca, Mexico, to investigate the communication strategies that local entrepreneurs and tourists use to overcome language and cultural barriers.
I can speak fluent Spanish, so language is not a concern during my summer experience. I am not sure how my work schedule will be, as I will be given a job orientation on-site when I arrive in early June. I am confident that once I find it, I can balance my internship, research, classes and cultural immersion.
I am wishing my fellow Global Scholar ’25 cohort all the best for their summer experiences, and I am eagerly anticipating the future (reading their blogs, traveling and growing) with Seminole spirit.
