The community here is very tight knit. I do not feel as if I have joined it, but I do not feel like I am on the outside. There are fundamental differences that separate us, a major one being religion. It has made me think of all the differences in community in the U.S. Nepalese people are friendlier and kinder to strangers than the typical American. They are very accommodating, willing to do everything to help their neighbor. They are also very go-with-the-flow. They are very calm, never in a rush to do anything or go anywhere. These are things I have noticed over the past five weeks, as this week I have gotten sick and have not been able to interact with the community a lot.
