My First Week Across the Globe: Welcome to Morocco!

Last week Sunday, I finally arrived in Rabat, Morocco! To come to Morocco, after a long time of planning, felt surreal. It was overwhelming at first, especially because this was my first-time solo traveling far from home and, unfortunately, my suitcase was delayed. However, a week has passed and I feel super comfortable! Morocco is extremely beautiful, more than what I had imagined!

I am staying in a traditional Moroccan Riad, a house around a central courtyard. I have devoted my past week to getting familiar with the city and culture. I have also tried many food places and walked around the Medina, which is extremely surprising and crowded!

My transition to the non-profit agency I am volunteering at, ARDES (Association Régionale Développement Économique et Social), was slow the first week. We were still figuring out my schedule and duties, but the second week was way better! In Morocco, business hours start after 9 am, which is great!

Overall, my first week was a rollercoaster of emotions, but it has been rewarding to see how everything aligns with the plan!

With love,
From Rabat!
