Finally at Qosqo!

Hi everyone! My apologies for the late Blog, my first two week’s in Qosqo were hectic but exciting. I’m just recovering from altitude sickness and a throat infection from how cold it’s been here in the city.

My transition to my position in Casa Mantay has been so splendid! I’ve learned so much about the organization, the mothers, the children, and the workers. I currently dabble in kitchen work and childcare in Mantay which has helped me learned from the mothers in different spaces. I am truly so happy and so thankful to be part of this opportunity.

Thankfully, my schedule has been fitting me pretty well. I go to volunteer from 9am until 2pm and then have the rest of the day to myself. I’ve also learned to the bus routes in Qosqo which have facilitated my life from getting to San Jeronimo (where Casa Mantay is) to Avenida Velasco Estete (where I am) and lastly to the Plaza de Armas (where all the tourist spots are)!

I would say being Peruvian has helped my transition be more easy. I’m more able to connect with locals without seeming like a tourist, even though some have told me I look like I’m from Lima and not Qosqo.

I’m very happy and those that are in Cusco lets get together please!
