I have made it to Dubrovnik, Croatia for the start of my second study abroad program! Some structural inequalities I have become more attuned to during my travels in Eastern Europe are gender, educational, and economic disparities. Some social conditions that exacerbate these inequalities are the masochistic society, a history of conflict between ethnic groups and religions, and a lack of industry development. and opportunity.
A subject that I am interested in researching for my Capstone Project is the different responses and outcomes of the wars that tormented other regions. In Kosovo and Croatia, the wars are still fresh, however, they have different religions, ethnic groups, international support, etc. In the Czech Republic, it has been several decades, so I am interested in comparing and analyzing their response and rebuilding process.
