Reclaiming and Reimagining Through Retrospective

Throughout this project I expect to be able to produce a strong, thought out final body of work; however, I do anticipate some hiccups in producing my final art pieces. Specifically, I do foresee some issues in ensuring the resolution of my reference collages is consistent and smooth at the desired size I intend to print at. I need to test the large format printers on my chosen substrate with my chosen palette to ensure that the grain and color of ink for the images isn’t too debilitating or off from my original digital rendering in the final prints.

I will also need to be sure that my color choices are shifted to CMYK as opposed to RGB so the final images reflect the digital products. These issues could definitely be corrected in photoshop with some slight shifts and changes in PPI, size reforms and color correction. I believe that this project will be generally smoothly executed because of my experience in photoshop and printing; however, these possible problems must be thought of and addressed through thorough testing beforehand to ensure they’re properly handled and corrected before the final print process.

I was able to make three of my final images, these works hold levels of detail and significance in the implementations of queer iconography, figureheads, and media as a way of inserting queerness into these compositions. I do anticipate the need to clarify some of the details and implementation of queerness in the written statement for the work because of the lack of understanding and general awareness of queer history in the widespread culture. This murkiness in popular culture could be an issue in the clarity of the mass populations’ interpretations for my final work which I hope I will be able to rectify in the written word.

In regards to the accelerants and positives of my project, I am happy to express that I have experience in the printing process that I will be embarking upon and am very confident in the final quality related to my chosen substrate. I am also excited to report that I have printed test images of my tentative design for my final result which turned out very well even on glossy paper. All that is left in the testing process is to ensure that my colors render properly on my sticky paper and then I will be able to start the finalization of my projects process.
