Hey! I’m Manal!

Hello! My name is Manal Mohib and I am a first year economics major from Orlando Florida!

I’m especially passionate about the field of environmental economics, so for my summer experience, I decided to have it revolve around the cause of environmental protection.

This summer I am hopefully working with Orange County’s Environmental Protection Division as an intern. I would be aiding in field visits and paperwork having to do with Orlando construction sites, making sure that everyone is doing their part to follow regulations set by the EPA to minimize construction site runoff from getting into the waterways.

I expect to learn how the EPA delegates tasks to lower level divisions across the nation for the same cause of environmental protection. I really hope to do my part as a student and intern to help my mentors as much as possible with their workloads, ensuring that waterways are protected from unregulated levels of wastewater.

I am still waiting to hear back, so hopefully this is what I specifically end up doing, but if not that’s alright because I have other opportunities lined up for beach cleanup efforts and or tree planting where I will try to independently pursue research and create connections between my home state of Florida and environmental economics. Since university lets out before the official declaration of summer in the EPD’s eyes, I’m waiting for that confirmation that i’m good for the summer.

By time I next update my blog, hopefully my plans will be set in stone.
