My Cultural Enviornment

Even though I am still on the FSU campus, my cultural environment has changed so much from being here during their regular Fall and Spring semester. Throughout the year the campus was filled with thousands of students and during this six week program, it has been a ghost town. The one place however that has still been busy is the House of Global Scholars building. This is where I took my course for the TEFL program and is also where all of the International students go to class. Walking the halls everyday I was always meeting new people and even got close with some of the students there. I have felt so proud and lucky to be a part of the international students’ community and have loved every second of my time with them. I have learned so much about world cultures and how things are in all corners of the world. This program has reshaped my sense of community by teaching me that a community doesn’t have to mean people from the same place being somewhere at the same time. But, community can just mean people with shared interests all coming together, and that is exactly what I experienced in the FSU TEFL program.
