Summer Hindsight

Looking back at my summer, it has a been a rollercoaster of many different events, ranging from my global scholars experience, to my summer courses, to volunteer opportunities I had in the veterinary field in my hometown. Many of the things I participated in during my summer taught me how to be passionate, how to time manage, and also, how to enjoy my summer despite it being busy. This was something I struggled with in the spring semester. I work part time as a veterinary technician in addition to attending college as a full time student, so I have had to learn to manage my time extremely well.

However, even though time management became a necessity to be successful in my multiple avenues in life, I still was not very good at it. This summer allowed me to see that there is value in commute time, in down time, and how those can both be used to my benefit in my overall schedule. I think this key topic of time management that I have learned by multitasking many different experiences is something that ties together my spring, summer and fall semesters.

My original interest in pursing a research-related experiences was to simply expose myself to the research world. Though, as time went on during the summer, I learned that I truly enjoy participating in scientific research. This is something that I wrote about in my capstone outline.
