I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Global Scholars Program. It’s been a rewarding journey for the past three semesters, and I’ve grown a lot both academically and personally. My interests still revolve around my continued interest in the international affairs field, leaning on human rights, law, and diplomacy. My idea for a summer experience was completely different to what I ended doing, and that proved to be great opportunity to grow and explore a new field. When I decided to work for the IRC during the summer, I decided to pay closer attention to NGOs and their collaboration with public entities such as federal agencies and foreign governments. I enjoyed my time working with a non-profit organization, and that experience has helped direct me towards different fields as well. My feelings towards the main idea for my Capstone project are still the same. While I might still not know the exact angle I want to explore, the core of the research question is still the same.
I’d like to explore this idea further in the fall by using the information gathered for my Capstone and look for more research opportunities through Social Science Scholars and Honors in the Major.
