Exciting Guests

Something incredibly exciting happened this past week of my internship at The Ritz! Two lovely and extremely knowledgeable women— a mother and her daughter— came through to tour the museum. They were both long time Jacksonville residents and were able to accurately identify many people in the historic photos in the museum.

The mother, pictured above, was even able to lend names and family connections to people whose identities had previously been lost to time. It was absolutely incredible to see how she could bring the sepia-toned faces staring out of the old photographs back to life as she reminisced on family reunions, cookouts, and church meetings that took place decades again. Memory has the incredible capacity to light up the past and make history feel all the more immediate.
