Farewell to my AmeriCorps Summer Experience

My experience this summer has been truly great! I did not know what to expect when I started my AmeriCorps service with PeaceJam but it has given me a new perspective on what it takes to and what it means to truly serve a community. The Center for Leadership and Service does incredible work and it was cool to see that work firsthand. I have done community service before, but to be surrounded by people who dedicate their life to serving made it more impactful for me. Being able to not only connect with youth in the community, but adults as well, has also definitely been a highlight of this experience. I feel more connected to Tallahassee and the issues within the community. It also showed me that solving community issues cannot be done without community partners all working together on these issues.
