With my experience complete, I am more than ready to go back to school. Oddly, I work the whole semester just with the goal of making it to the end, yet just as I begin my brief break in between my last and next semester, I want to start classes again.
As I’ve stated in prior blogs, I’m still narrowing down what aspect of maternal health I want to be the focus of my project. My choices are the following: maternal outcomes at hospitals versus birthing centers, the cause of and flaws associated with the extremely high C-section rates in the United States. I’m starting to lean towards the latter because it might be easier to get information on it, but the former might be less common of a topic. Then again, I myself was uninformed of how rampant C-section rates were in the USA until recently so perhaps it’s not as profuse a topic as I believe. Perhaps surveying those around me will help with this inquiry.
I’m considering reaching out to Gynecologists or those with similar qualifications in Tallahassee to help supplement my project. Plus, they might be able to give me information about my topic not readily available online. Of course, this is hypothetical for the time being.
I think I might be interested in studying maternal health in the future, thanks to my summer experience. Alas, for the time being instead I will enjoy being throughly entertained by doing absolutely nothing the remainder of my summer!
