A recent story I read on CNN found that this month, July 2023, has recorded the hottest temperatures in the history of Earth. Much of this is due to climate change caused by human pollution. The effects have been globally detrimental, with higher temperatures causing wildfires in the Mediterranean and killing crops in Asia.
I have been a witness to the higher temperatures during my summer in Tallahassee as well. As I’ve tried to find fun activities to do with Kat, we often opt for indoor plans to escape the scorching heat outside. While climate change and rising temperatures have been in conversation for years, I did not realize the extent to which they impacted daily lives.
In terms of a capstone project update, I am currently working on my draft proposal. By the end of this summer I will be prepared to start research in the fall!
