My day to day life follows a somewhat consistent pattern – class, work, gym, study – with a few different activities here and there. Within this norm, I often find myself in the same places every week. Repeat stops include HCB and the College of Medicine on FSU’s campus for class, GreenWise or Square Mug to study for organic chemistry, Crunch Fitness to work out, and the FSU Primary Care office where I work as Medical Assistant.
The one part of my week that changes consistently is my time spent with Kat on Friday’s. Each week, I try to think of an activity that fun and care free to help Kat get out of her shell and do something that she truly enjoys. Kateryna loves movies, art and animals, so I’ve tried to find activities that fit into those categories. So far, we’ve painted pottery at FSU, seen the new Spiderman movie, and played with kittens at the Tally Cat Cafe and Fat Cat bookstore in Railroad square. She’s also a lover of ice cream, which has taken us to Sugar Rush for their infamous milkshakes and Cold Stone for a variety of flavors and toppings.
Being a Tallahassee tour guide for Kat has broadened the spheres of my daily life. I had never thought to go to many of the places we’ve been together, mostly because I was so wrapped up in the craziness of college life. I’m grateful to our mentorship for giving me the opportunity to explore Tallahassee beyond the FSU campus.
