So I just finished week 6 of my TEFL certification. This week I had to present one of my lesson plans in front of my class as if I was actually teaching it. Despite having already tutored numerous times now, I felt very nervous teaching in front of my professor. However, it was a great experience and after I finished I felt very supported by my professor and my peers’ feedback. I love the little community we comprise, there is such a diverse international perspective hearing from our teachers and our students.
I also feel like I’ve joined the teaching community. TEFL teachers are all across the globe and stay connected through different websites and forms of media to support one another. This week our professor shared with us a document of all previous TEFL students at CIES that contains their contact information and where they went to teach. She encouraged us to reach out to these teachers, as they have so much knowledge to share from their experiences. I am very grateful to have joined this community and look forward to learning from past students.
