Solidarity in the Tallahassee Community

Solidarity in the Tallahassee community was very evident at the Inaugural Community Digital Equity Forum I attended as a part of PeaceJam Southeast at Fairview Middle School on June 27th. At this forum, community organizations, government officials, school systems, and private corporations like Comcast came together to discuss the issue of the digital equity and inclusion and what can be done to mitigate this issue. At this forum, Comcast announced that it will donate $75,000 to the Rotary Club of Tallahassee Southside and the Greater Apalachee Ridges Estates Neighborhood Association to establish a Digital Navigators program in Leon County. These digital navigators will be trained to assist their neighbors on developing their digital skills and connecting them with available resources. It was made abundantly clear to me that everyone in that forum was dedicated to bridging this digital divide in the community. It was amazing to see that kind of community solidarity in action.
