Settling In

Adjusting to my summer experience has been relatively easy since I’m still in my hometown. I haven’t encountered many challenges in terms of establishing a routine and feeling comfortable. However, managing my diverse range of activities alongside my regular work schedule can be demanding. I work part-time at a women’s boutique, frequently babysit, and i’m taking an online chemistry class. I volunteer on my days off and make time to study for my CNA test in between work schedules, which can lead me to feel overwhelmed sometimes. Thankfully, my CNA training only lasted a week, allowing me to learn all the necessary information and dedicate the rest of my time to studying and practicing clinical skills until I receive my test date.

My weekly schedule varies depending on my work and the availability of volunteering positions in the food pantry or garden. Despite the busyness, I find it very manageable and fulfilling. Being able to incorporate various activities into my schedule has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m eagerly looking forward to continuing my experiences. The most difficult aspect is not feeling guilty when I have a day where I don’t have much going on, It can be hard to allow myself to relax when I am committed to a summer experience.
