Structural Inequalities

The structural inequalities I have been in contact with here are a lack of financial stability, unequal pay, and opportunity, or corruption within the criminal system within the entire community. I can write a book on countries being “behind” and what it does to them compared to what we know and our knowledge. There is plenty of times I looked around while taking the environment in and thinking wow there is so much potential and richness here, how did they end up like this?

During my work days, I have heart-to-heart conversations with people from different villages like Dansoman, Teshie, Nungua, and many others. I see their information on where they live and their income or what they do for a living. Stereotypes exist everywhere of course so when I read their background and what they have come to the embassy for, it gets saddening. Not only are you struggling financially and unaware of the amount of your next check will be, but you are also worried or stressed about your kids well being because of your husband either abusing you or committing adultery. I get so tied up with my emotions but I have to stay focus and try to get the justice they deserve.

I am unsure what my CapStone project will be because it’s so much to talk about and I don’t really know where I can fit all this conversation at.
