A Day in the Life with PeaceJam

As a PeaceJam Summer VISTA Associate, my daily routine can change based on the day. Some days, I volunteer with programs like Pop-Up Preschool or food-sorting with the Second Harvest of the Big Bend. Other days, I go out into the community through summer camps/programs and do coaching. Coaching is when we do lessons based on curriculum using PeaceJam’s 14 Nobel Peace Laureates and 10 Key Issue Areas. The lessons are also tailored based on the theme of the summer camp/program. And on the days where I am not volunteering or coaching, I spend my time in the Center for Leadership and Service on FSU’s campus. While I am in the Center, I could either be assisting in working on lesson plans for when we do coaching, participating in workshops, or assisting with events like Freshman Orientation.
