My name is Nadia Anchundia, I am an artist, storyteller and animal/wolf advocate. I am from New York, Manhattan. I am a Junior in SUNY Oneonta. I am a Studio/Digital Art Major with an Earth Science Minor. The purpose of this is to learn how to combine art and science together to create an effective story. I am passionate about being an animator, comic book artist and a proper advocate for wolves. I like to draw and study art in my free time, along with taking better care of my mental health. I play violin in my free time and go to the gym.
I am greatly passionate about saving wolves from the risks of extinction and becoming a professional illustrator.
I have a passion for wolves and what they do for the ecosystem. Unfortunately, they have been demonized since colonization. I want to tell photographic stories about the conservation effort for wolves. I want to increase awareness so more people know of their plight. I am going to observe how the conservationists take care of wolves and their environment, take photos of them doing the work and I will helping them take care of the sanctuary as well. One of our tasks is to refresh the wolves’ water bowls, thaw raw meat and observe their behavior through watching recorded videos of them.
I will be traveling from NY to Mafra, Portugal, I will be there the whole 2 weeks
With the news of the Dire wolf “returning”, some in the world community believe that there is nothing wrong with killing an animal since we can “bring them back” with their DNA. What do you think of this argument?
Wolves are a native species that have been proven to keep the ecosystem balanced; without them, the environment will falter over time. What do you think we should do to prevent wolf and human issues spiraling out of control in Portugal?
I am looking forward to learning about what it takes to take care of wolves and taking photos of them.
I Am unsure on how this will play out, I don’t know what’s in Mafra or if I’ll be able to get all the information I need to embark this goal. I will make the most of my time by enjoying nature and exploring Lisbon when I have free time. In terms of exploring, I hope I get the chance to visit a Tile Museum!
